Fancy friday: happy new year

Again a quickie but hopefully goodie after all.
It's not new years yet, but i made this jelly sandwich a week ago as soon as OPI "snowflakes in the air" was delivered. Under it is OPI "casino royale" and over it is OPI "houston we have a purple".
I adore this combo. It is more subtle than hologlitter in your face, but the glitter is more integrated and works with the base instead of against it. I love glitter and glam but the extreme new years manis is not for me:)
Hope you all had a nice christmas

Swatch: Nails inc 3d glitter

Hey girls

Its not that these polishes are new, you can find many swatches but I wanted to do mine and give my thoughts of these polishes. I bought these about a year ago and I actually never wore them, I only swatched them, liked them and placed these on a high shelf.... That is stupid! It really is. I assumed I would love them and didn't even care to find out. That is also a good thing about blogging, I get to try my new polishes - and older in this case.
The colors are:  Marylebone, Hammersmith and Maida Vale

Marylebone - is a silver bigger glitter and small silver and pink glitter. It makes the overall look be a silvery light pink. I thought -I would love this, but it actually don't interest me as much on the nails. I love light pink, but it is almost to light for me to really notice and appreciate the pink in it. Is they had put darker purple or another color in besides silver it could have been just as fascinating as the next polish. It came of a little more dull than i expected. I think i will keep it, but I can't say when I will be in mood for this.
I used three coats.

Hammersmith - Is the polish that dragged me towards this collection. It is bigger silver glitter and small glitter  in green and blue. This is as I predicted really awesome. The blend of colors makes the overall look a blueish light green, but if you look a little closer the colors are very obvious and beautiful. It makes it really special, like the polish have a surprise. I need to use this.
I used two coats and the consistency was the best of the tree.

Maida Vale - is a light blue and silver glitter polish. It is not as obvious to tell blue particles in this polish compared to the others. It looks like silver in the bottle but still comes of as light blueish silver. I do think it is beautiful but I don't really know if i need it. I don't really know when I am going to use it, but I will definitely rather have this than a normal silver glitter with great opacity. I think this compared to silver fits my skin tone better, and that is probably my reason for keeping it.
I used two coats and the consistency is really nice on these.

I bought these last year without using these. When I ask myself why and why I can't really imagine me wearing these it comes to my mind that i haven't had a full glitter mani since last new year. I have so many glitters and I love glitter, so at first it did not make sense to me. Then it accrued to me that I do use glitters for full manis, but not my traditional glitters, they have been switched out with my glitter texture polishes. The reason for this must be the durability. I remember around December 2012 I got the habit of scratch my edges loose and peel of the whole design. It made some problems for my nails and I had to repaint way to often for my liking at that time. I have almost grown out of that habit now but that is because I wear manis that don't allow that. A texture polish can sit on me for two weeks if i let it, and I really damage my nails if I try to get it off without nail polish remover.
This explains my love for textures, but at the same time it made me ask myself: will I ever use my glitters again? I need to do some thinking about this.

Do you have any of these? Or do you have the same problem with glitters?

I added some photos of christmas at my home, but as I am on the phone i hope it will be in the right order, but I guess well see. I think they will come after the text

funny things:

  • We have a big horrible wooden statue of a man in the luvingroom next to the tree. It has a special place in the heart of my father so my mother didnt dare to permanently dress it up for the holliday, so i did instead;)
  • we tried to make our cats chridtmas presants because we had seen the packing succeeded in a video and our cats are very lazy and love attention, but it didnt go so we try again next year.

Beauty: Gold and burgundy makeup look

Hey girls
I'm on the run now, actually sitting in the train so this will be much shorter than i ment it to be. I hope some will like it though.
This i can tell will be my makeup for christmas, so maybe it can act as inspiration.
The eyeshadows used is a burgundy shade from h&m you cant get anymore, and a berry and gold shade from a MUA palette (i will insert info later)
For christmas i think i will switch the gold shadow for a too faced though.
The lipstick is from coolcos, think number 23 or 21. This is great for me for christmas because it has no perfume smell. My father is extremely allergic and gets breathibg problems by perfume in the air, so the next month i will be completely without perfume because i am going to study for an exam in lasr week of january at home. When i moved from home i decided to use prrfume and now it id hsrd for me to put aside, but when it comes to my father of csusr thats what i am going to do:)
Thats all i have for you this time. Please ask about any information you didn't get and want in the comments<3

Swatch: Foxy Paws Christmas collection

Heey again beauties

For black Friday foxyfingertips.com had a lot of different offers, I chose to get 20% off my order and got all this for 320 DKK. That's a nice price compared to their normal prizes I think. Maybe I'm just greedy, but I am not satisfied with one nail polish, I want as many as possible:P

All the colors I chose was new colors for this Christmas. One glitter and four Holographic.
From left to right: Baby, it's colds outside, All I want for Christmas is blue, Have a berry little Christmas, Hear that Sleigh and Grandma got run over by a reindeer.
The photo it both with flash on top and in shade below.

"Baby, It's Colds Outside" - Big snowflake glitter, shiny white hex and square glitters in two different sizes and silver hex glitter in two small sizes. Fantastic combination I must say, and presisely such a polish that make me hate my very rounded nails. The big glitters don't fit me and i am afraid they will fall off quikly, but i will give this a chance, cause it is definetly unique. You need to dig for the glitters, but it was not that hard and helps putting it upside down for a few minutes before you want to apply this. The base is maybe a little wathery but when you get to know the polish you will know how to handle this.
On the photo i had it over H&M "Midnight Mystery" and Essie "Rock The Boat". I love it both ways

An overall review will be given after the discribtions and photos
To all polishes i have three photos with different light in this order: Shade - Indors artificial light - Flash

"All I want for Christmas is blue" - Is a dusty blue with a green undertone. Can both look very blue, grey and green depending on the light.

"Have a berry little Christmas" - Is a dusty purple. More blue tone than i expected, thought it would be more berry

"Hear that Sleigh" - A very pinkish red, almost to pink to be a christmas color I think and does not match the pictures on the site I think. I think of this as more berry than "Have a berry little Christmas" :P Still gorgeous color though

"Grandma got run over by a reindeer" - A brown/grey/taupe holographic color - the pictures shows this very well I think. I love that kind of color but wasn't sure if i needed this as a holo, but I now know that I do. I think its nice.

Reviews of the holos:
I needed three coats at least for these. Three was enough to cover the nail but if you have long nails and don't like any light shining through your nails when you have polish on, then you need four coats with these... That is a big downer for me, both because of the time I need to spend on painting my nails with these, but also because it will reduce the amount of manis I can do with these compared to if they only needed two coats. Luckily I still feel the colors are unique enough to own, but a better consistency would have made them much better I think.

And I have to give a warning.
I have tried 5 other holos from the brand and only two out of these only needs two coats. I hope this is something the makers will try to work with. In the future I will only buy colors I really find unique from this brand unless they do an effort with this fact and don't say people should expect pigment lumps. I had a polish with extreme lumps that was not getting better by being shaked and the lumps got onto the nails and made streaks of a dark color. By that time she refunded me but that's apparently not what people should expect now. My friend told me it was written on the site after I placed my order so I was very happy none of these I received was with lumps - but ironically enough my friend got a holo with lumps in her order... That is an extreme deal-breaker for me that this is still a problem and you don't have any rights. Its not service and nothing you shall tolerate in my opinion. Its like you don't buy a flattening iron where the buttoms fall of, that is a defect item compared to how it should have been. So if you have experienced this, I think you should write to them anyway and say this is not up to standards and not what you paid for. Then something must happen or they will miss their customers. This may be the only indie brand in Denmark, but they still got to treat people well, else I can order from other countries.

I hope you find my review useful<3

Fancy Friday: Red Rules

Hi lovelies

Red rules... well every november I get crazy about that color throug out december and rest of the year I hate it:P I'm weird, but maybe it has grown on my this year to last longer as an obsession. We'll see.
This was my design. Different from hand to hand but that was just my mood:)

Colors used:
Essie "Leading Lady" - base for three fingers and ribbons + the reindeers nose. Two coats
Essie "Fiji" - base for middle and ring finger to save time and efford. Two coats
Orly "Peacefull Opposition" - effect on the base of the middle and ring finger. Two coats
Sally Hansen "Honeymoon Red" - base for the ribbons
China Glaze "Below Deck" - reindeers face
Essie "Sable Collar" - reindeers antlers
OPI "Alpine Snow" and Essie "Licorice" for the eyes

I had been planing to stamp, but sometimes its just more personal with my own stroke of the brushes, and that was what i felt like right here. I just needed something more simple than a stamp.

But I will also show some polishes you need for next years christmas in this post:)

OPI Underneath the mistletoe and Essie Toggle to the top is of cause also lovely polishes but I already shown and talked about these here, so this blogpost will not include these even though you defenetly need at least one of these:)
The other polishes I recommend is:

Essie "Rasberry" (base)
A gorgerous red leaning pink while still being red to me. However it does need three coats.
OPI "Minnie Style"
A white, red and hot pink glitter mix. I like this as used for glitter placement manicures.

Savina - Purple confetti
Is a jelly base with holo glitter that reminds me of our christmas tree that always have every color known on. Depending on the depth you want you need 2-3 coats of this. I think I used three for the photo.

OPI - DS Reflection
It changes color in every light and because the holo is very subtle without direct light it can look like two completely different polishes. I think its fun and also appropriate for summer. Two coats.

L.A. Girl - Sparkle Ruby
A lovely darker red. The scattered holo is gorgerous and it makes it look so christmassy. Two coats.

If you have the perfect christmas red you think I miss in my collection then of cause tel me so I can get it for next year;)

Beauty: green christmas makeup

Hi girls

It's harder for me to plan makeup looks and harder for me to take photos of my doing than only nail polish, so I hope the ones that requested more makeup is satisfied with my effort.

The reason it is hard for me to take pictures is the same as my reason for not using dark colors on my lids very often. As you see in the photos under this text you cant see my eyelid when I open my eyes - or at least you cant see any colors because of the natural shadow my skull creates.

But today I wanted to do a design that would go with the Green Fingers nail design for Fancy Friday - will be up in two days on the blog. And I chose once more to make a whole eyeshadow look only using Kiko Cosmetics eyeshadows. When i reviewed the big palette i told they had to be worn with both a primer and a base. I forgot that today and it first came to my mind when I was done. Something i did remember was to pack on the color on the lid with a sponge aplicater - and as i expected it worked much better than with brush.

Here is some pictures:

The eyeshadows used is 267, 238, 240 from the infinity eyeshadow range and the dark grey/brown shade in the corner of the "02 Street Taupe Variation" palette as seen on the picture below this text. I hope to review the other Kiko palette in January.
I can say that I am so happy I chose the brown blending colors for the infinity palette. They are the perfect shades for this purpose as I wished them to be.

And just because some will be happy for this: pictures with glasses incorporated in the look. After all that is what I wear it with every day of my life:) Some people think it is hard to get it right with the frame of the glasses. That is why i chose this classic and easy shape - of cause also because it fits my face the best, but definitely also because of my love for makeup.

Last information:
Lip product: Revlon Kissable Balm Stain in "Smitten" (you all need this)

And now we are almost half ways through the waiting of december! Yay! I love Christmas. Just wish I had more money for buying gifts. But that's why I am happy I can draw and paint. Maybe I will share my creations after Christmas.

Swatch: Nails Inc Snowflake

Hi girls
Today is finally the day you will get to see the Nails Inc Snowflake I bought in London. Yes it has been a while, but I have had so much to show.

I decided the polish should be worn over Models Own Blueberry Muffin, a very light blue that needs three coats for full opacity and smells sweet and nice even with a coat of glitter and two coats of topcoat. Here is pictures of the bottles and a older picture of Models Own on my nails by itself.

Nails Inc Snowflake effects "Kensington Church Street" is a effect topcoat with bigger white matte hex glitters, white matte short bar glitters and tiny almost-not-there holographic glitter, nothing you see lay over light colors as this, it looks like it is not there, but in the sunlight you see it glitter. Very strange but I think it is so cute.
Only complain is that I think it needs at least two coats of topcoat. I would not think this was that complex as the glitter aren't that big, but apparently it is, even though I only needed one coat of the effect polish.

Here the mani is shown in light.

And here shown in shade

Because I was experimenting I mattified the mani on the left hand with Essies Matte About You.
It was sweet but it made it a little more plain and Blueberry muffin became even lighter because of this step. It was almost white as snow bot there was no glittering bits in the mani this way.

Also I could see the matte topcoat didn't last long on this color, cause it was obvious after one day that the tips had become a little darker and true to color of Blueberry Muffin. Almost like a little matte-shiny and slight color shifting gradient manicure. Actually this could have been great.. maybe I just can't think out of the box :P but I liked it better with ordinary shiny topcoat even though I dont think of snow as shiny cause that would mean it was melting. And now I think it looks like its melting with shiny topcoat:P To many thoughts in my head.

Any one getting this polish?

Three years with my boyfriend and second advent design

Hello lovelies<3

Today is a fantastic day for me. I have three year anniversary with my boyfriend, and three years ago I almost gave up to reach this point. Before my sweet Antonio the longest I have had a boy was 4 mounths, but I guess it is possible to love me after all ;)
We have taken things slow, but next year we are finally planing to move in together, and then the exciting things really start. Our life together. I know it will be great cause we are so good at sitting and talking instead of screaming at each other, and we always end up agreeing, even though the last year tested us in many things. He is a dream! Or at least mine;)

For my first birthday in our relationship he bought me a nail polish I haven't worn much because I was very afraid of the color red back then. I am trying to embrace the color more this december and in his honor I wanted to wear it for the day.
Nails Inc "Aspen" - is a firery warm red with a pearly finish. It does give some problems with brush stokes ans sometimes bubbles, but a topcoat helps. It needs only two coats and is easy to apply.

I wanted to do the mani more special by adding hearts and maybe some lights, but then something happened so there wasn't time enough sadly. But then i just wore it by itself!

Fancy Friday: Green Fingers - christmas tree

Hi ladies:)

A green nail art design was actually a challenge to me.. because I own very few green polishes that arent pastels:P I often dont find that green flatters my skintone. Finally I settled for my Zoya "Chita" as base but I went and bought a few colors just because I had something else in my mind.

My first idea was a green base with Cirque Colors "XX" over. XX have so many cute colors in it and really look like the totally messy christmas tree at my home every year. But the base I found to dark and it didn't look like what I wanted. Maybe because XX does need some red for that purpose. The base is Gina Tricot "Emerald sea".
But I ended up with this design.
As I said the base was Zoya "Chita"
First I stamped with OPI alpine snow (which also looked cute) and then I filled the white in with colors like OPI "DS Radiance", OPI "DS Extravagance", OPI "Charged up cherry" and & Other Stories "Challis Gold"
And yes it did take some time, but happily I like doing these things.

The flash does ruin the feel of the texture and chance my skin color a bit, but its the best I can do now that we have so few hours light. I already look forward to when the days gets longer:P

The stamping plate I used was this from MoYou London:
http://www.moyou.co.uk/index.php/collections/festive-collection/moyou-london-moyou-nail-art-design-image-plate-stencils-set-festive-collection-01.html

What do you say:)
