Hi girls, today I have a new years polish to show you. It is a Models Own polish from their Fireworks collection from 2013, and therefore not a new polish. I got it at the time it came out but I didn't get to wear it for new years (as I got a better idea s you can see in last years blogpost), so thats why I will swatch and review it now.

Hi girls

New year is coming right at us. It's crazy time goes past so quick. I used to think a year was such a long time, but now it seems like there is mush less time between Christmas. Well maybe I'm only enjoying life more than I did as a child. Any of you feel this way?

But for today I want to show you my favorite manicures of the year. I have, since I began to use a better camera, been batter at doing manicures I think and I have taken blogging a lot more serious since I moved the blogs domain, so naturally many of these manicures are newer ones, but I forced myself to include some older ones. Yesterday was our Christmas (here in denmark we celebrate it the 24th December) so here is some pictures from my Christmas eve. I where at my boyfriends family this year and tomorrow we are going to my family to celebrate.

For today I have another variation of a christmas manicure using the same presant on my ring finger as in the Christmas manicure from last Fancy Friday - see that here.
I wanted to do a more golden design and therefore the supplement to the red is a red Poinsettia, the flower we in Denmark call a "Christmas Star".

Fancy Friday: Christmas Presents

So today the theme is Christmas presents. I got an idea to use two A-england polishes I haven't got to use since I got them a month ago, so I only did one present and rest of the nails are christmas tree themes with ornament-dots. So that's how that is :) See for yourself:

The Snowman Mani

Do any of you know "The Snowman"? I guess a lot of you do, but if not you can watch it on youtube here.
I loved to watch it year after year, especially because of the song (when winter hits us I think it is a great song to sing in the bath haha!)

Swatch: ILNP - Very Ornamental

Hi girls

Again a ultra quick swatch post, this time of the ILNP shade "Very Ornamental"

A perfect pink toned true red linear holographic polish. Two coats it all you need for such a mani.

I always look out for reds that are brught and the right tone for my skin, I think it is pretty hard to find a obvious red polish that fits my skintone, but this does and it is so bright and sexy!

Fancy Friday: Inspired by Christmas Food

Hi girls. The theme os today was awesome as it allows a lot of creativity. I orginally wanted to do something with Flæskesteg (the danish traditional Christmas dinner) but it is not a particularly pretty dish... So I though about Risalamande instead.

I can't imagine a Christmas without Risalamande, and it's funny because I didn't like it when I was a child. But as wikipedia says Risalamande "is made out of rice pudding mixed with whipped cream, vanilla, and chopped almonds; and is usually served cold with a cherry sauce". YUMMMMYYYYYY!!!!

Celebration of hearts Manicure

Yesterday (December 7) me and my boyfriend had been together for four years, and we love to do something special about the day so of cause I needed a cute mani with lots of hearts - and in Danish we call Christmas the celebration of hearts (I don't know if that goes for the rest of the world) so the mani of today also goes great with the Christmas theme of the month. It is a simple double accent nail with hearts and dots in three colors.

Well I have seen so many sweet owl manicures over the years but actually only did a owl design back this summer when I was inspired by my bathingsuit, you can see that design here. But that was very colorful and although I loved it, I wanted to do a owl mani for fall - but I had too much pressure and forgot about it. Then I recieved A-Englands "Sleeping Palace". I had seen many swatches, but it was when I saw my good instagram friend @lacquerice s swatch photos that I decided to get it. Swatch Wednesday: China Glaze "Strike Up A Cosmo"

Hi girls

This one of my favorite polishes because it instantly gives a mani worth both a special everyday and a party. I like being glamorous all the time :P so this is perfect

China Glaze "Strike Up A Cosmo" is a light pink foil with gold foil flakes.

Two coats is all you need and it applies easy without streaks.

Fancy Friday: The Leadlight Technique

Hi girls

Then it is time for another Fancy Fridag mani. I have tried leadlight twice before and you definitely need to go and check those manies out. You can find them here and here.

I love the technique as it easily can make a stamping mani softer and sweeter. I have seen most people using a black stamp with this technique, but as I was not very fond of that in the beginning and that's why my first two designs are stamped with complimenting colors. I still like that way the best, but I decided that I had to try to make it work with a black stamp. I think the outcome for today does, but it is too harsh for me for everyday.
I love the stamping plate though. It is number 22 from MoYou London's Explorer collection. But it is too summery for this season, I need more winter-ish plates that can be used for leadlight! If you have any in mind I should check out, please write to me in the comments :D

Swatch Wednesday: Dollish Polish "Anybody Want a Peanut"

Woohoo the blog is up and running. There is still some issues, so it's not done yet, but it's working :)

Today it a quick swatch post of the lovely Dollish Polish "Anybody Want A Peanut?"

It is a gorgerous pinky-nude base with coniak brown and dark brown glitters in different sizes. A little yellow circle glitter  ans very small gold glitter is also in there.

It takes three easy coats to be fully opaque. Two coats is also fine as it levels out pretty easy, but in that way you will see visible nail line.

Fancy Friday: Favorite Type of Mani

Hi Ladies

Today the theme was favorite polish or technique
I can't pick a favorite. I love too many polishes and my favorite techniques are polka dots, gradient mani and stamping. Techniques that are easy, pretty and quickly can spice up a plain polish.

I picked stamping for today. I also did that Wednesday you say, yes I did. Stamping is a technique I like best in periods. Recently I received some new MoYou London Stamping Plates and a new stamper, so I was eager to try those out - and at the same time I am kind of stressed out at the time, so stamping fits excellent for how the world spins around right now for me.This is the design of today:

Fancy Friday: Fan Brush Striped Manicure

Hello girls

Today I tried the fanbrush/sugarspun technique for fancy friday. If you want to see a how to guide I would recommend you to see this video tutorial from Demelza's World on Youtube. There are many great guides but this shows that kind of dry-fanbrush technique that i also used. I did it that way because I don't like stripes and I am happy that it got so random and rought by using a dry fanbrush for this.

Leaves nail art

For today I want to show some simple nail art I did inspired by leaves. I actually intended to make vine leaves but I had some trouble with that and decided to make something more of you may be able to recreate.

You just need to be able to control a brush that well that you can make some tiny branches and some tiny leaves. Of cause that is very hard for some, and the only thing I can say to that is: Practise and you will get better. If you don't have the patience for learning you will never get better, so it's really all in your mind I think.

Fancy Friday: Halloween

Hi Girls. The theme of today is Halloween and this is actually my first halloween many ever. It's not a thing I have ever celebrated and I don't attend many parties so that's why, but also because I live in Denmark and we don't celebrate it much.

I don't like spooky or scary things and my nails as you can see are not either, but it is beautiful and dark and have some elements of haloween. I chose to make the elements white because i feared black would make it too dark. This is the outcome:

Nail Design of art

I wanted to make sure that my international readers also had a possibility to see it
It is not that hard to explain that it is some advanced nail art (took me 6 hours xD) and I know most of you won't recreate this - I won't either, but I am happy I did it for this one time.

My theme was art and I was inspired of  "The Swing" by Jean-Honoré Fragonard. A true classical masterpiece that is a little fun. This is my favorite painting of all times.

Fancy Friday: Tutorial (Dragon Scales)

For today I decided to try to make a tutorial video!!!! The first I have ever made and therefore not perfect or anything, but I am very proud of the outcome. (Even though it is a little blurry (sadly youtube made it that way), my breathing is annoying and my very slow way of speaking English) xD

Nail Design: Diwali for Roberta

Hello dear readers :)

A few days ago I was "invited" to a "birthday party" for sweet BobPlaysWithPolish. She asked people to make a Diwali design and she would share it on her blog the 23th of October.
I thought this was such a great idea that I immediately wanted to participate. Luckily Google is my friend, as I had never heard about the Diwali festival, you can reed about it here.

In short Diwali is a Hindu celebration. In English it is known as "the festival of lights".
The participants decorate their homes with patterns as Rangoli, they dress up, they light up lamps and candles and pray typically to Lakshmi (the goddess of wealth and prosperity). And they eat and exchange gifts.
Or at least that's what Wikipedia says :)

Swatch: Cadillacquer "Survivor"

A quick review for today folks

From swatches of this I though that this would be essential for fall and bought it.

I new it was dark but still expected it to be a convincing purple, but I am a little sad that this turned out to be much more dark than on the pretty pictures I have seen. It is a little too dark for my taste and is a crelly formular so it needs three coats to be opaque but it is a little troubellling to get even coverage all over the nail is you aren't very fixed about this. This could have been much better in my opinion

 

Fancy Friday: Awareness

Hi ladies

The theme of today is breast cancer awareness. I didn't make a design for this any of the other years and the only reason why I post something today I because I did this mani a long time ago and never got around to posting it.

I wore this first in September when I started on my education because I wanted to wear something light, neutral and girly. I love my nails and I like when people admires them, but when meeting new people that may not be intrigued, I didn't want my nails to take the focus away from my person.

Nail design: Tootless inspired mani

Well, I am just crazy about the "How to train your Dragon" movies. Dreamworks make so creative works now a days and this is no exception in my opinion. Just look at this collage I made with pictures of toothless, he is adorable and I want one for my self (but that may be a bit hard....).

But I decided I wanted to do a manicure inspired by him.

So this is the outcome of my experiment:

I wanted to focus on Toothless' scales as I think it's a great effect that they are much more shiny than rest of him. On the thumb I did a little more advanced nail art.

Fancy Friday: Cake Decoration Day

Hi ladies, today the theme of fancy friday is something with cakes and decorations. Well I love both things and as I seached the internet for inspiration the idea just hit me.

Yes I have made cupcakes yet again..... (but how can you blame me!!!<3)
But but but... as i finished the design it got more and more clear that this could actually have been a wedding manicure - at least a good candidate for my own future wedding manicure.

Swatch: Picture Polish Picks - part 1

It is a picture of three fantastic nail mails all with picture polishes inside. I needed to do something really good for myself, so it was definitely expensive, but I'm so happy :)

Autumn Shoes

I finally had some money so spend on my poor feet that usually walks around in shitty shoes. I wanted something practical, stylish, feminine, classic and neutral, and I found just the two pairs that are all that and more!

These are the shoes:

 

Shoe//Design Copenhagen - 599 DKK

This is a very simple black leather shoe that goes with every outfit I can think of. It is not very feminine but it is stylish, neutral and classic and a bit different because of the crinkled leather. The heel is made from rubber which makes it better to walk on compared to horrible things as wood as so many compagnies use for shoe heels... I simply can't walk on wood that way). The shoes are easy to get in and you can be out of the door in no time

These dark brown leather shoes are very feminine and a little higher than the first pair, but this too have a really good rubber heel and I actually walks better in these than the other pair. They don't look that practical but they certantly feel that way. They also have a soft fluffy lining inside the shoe so they will keep me warm. They need a little adjusting because of the laces but they have a zipper on the other side so then you have adjusted the shoe the first time you don't need to worry about it again.
These have a much more classical feminine feel and they are my favorites of these two pairs.

Fancy Friday: Party Manicure

Let me just start to say that I am not a party girl and if this is not a trend anymore I have no way to know, but I hope the design makes sense anyway.For this design I was inspired by glowsticks. The few parties I attended at my High School involved these weird glowing sticks and they where everywhere. So I brought my neons out of the closet and added the neons randomly over white lines I had made over a dark purple base.
I now see that I could have made some lines a little better with some correcting, so I think I must have been very tired when I made this. Sorry for that

Swatch: My ILNP fall picks

Hi girls. As I think many of you where I was totally in love when I saw the first pictures of the fall collection from ILNP in August, so I bough three of the shades:

"Black Orchid", "Champagne Blush" and "Iconic".

I am a little torn about these in real life as I think they look very different from some of the prettiest pictures I saw back when I bough them. That I will get back into in the review of each polish.

Combo: Essie Hide & Go Chic with glitter

Hello again ladies

Today I have Essie "Hide & Go Chic" for you.
It is a great polish with full coverage after two coats and its a little different than your true blue color as it is a little teal in tone. My hands looks a little less pale with this kind of blue shade and that's why I was attracted to it.

I totally forgot to take a photo of it by itself though. I chose to put my lovely (and discontinued - I'm a horrible person!) Oopsie Daisies "Festivus for the Rest of Us" on top.

Perfume: Yves Rocher Purple Lilacs

Hi girls

I have heard about the brand Yves Rocher before but never tried it as it is not sold in stores in Denmark that I know of. Last weekend they gave 30% off orders and I went and bought some stuff, mainly because of this Lilac perfume.

Lilacs are some of my favorite flowers, they both looks and smells fantastic to me. I was so afraid that this would disappoint me but luckily it didn't. It smells s little strong compared to the flowers which makes sence because the flowers smell is so subtle, but besides that they really got the smell i think, I can even smell the honey I used to such out of the flowers and eat as a child.

Ohh memories <3

It is a very fresh flower scent and if you know how lilacs smell they can be a little soapy and so can this perfume smell, but not to strong (I usually don't like soapy perfumes)

Now it can be spring all year around on my skin :P

Zoya Skylar, roses and dots

Zoya "Skylar" is an amazing polish. I really like that effect and I also own both OPI "Don't Give a Rotterdamn" and OPI "I Have A Herring Problem" that are very close to this, but I had to experience for myself if these where to close or I did need all of them. The answer is that I did need them all as Skylar is much more blue compared to the more grey OPI shades.

If you got one of them you already know that the coverage is the only downside with these polishes as they are just as bad and needs 3-5 coats of polish. I didn't wanted to put that many coats so I just did two coats over Sally Hansen "Gray By Gray" (sadly this is discontinued) which have great coverage and is almost a one coater.

Then I added some dots and roses to make it a little more girly and fresh :)

Swatch Wednesday: ILNP Dreaming in Violet

I know I know... I have showed this polish before, but as I shifted from using my phone camera to a real camera the pictures got so much better that I had to give this another try on the blog.

 

The first time I showed it was in this blogpost

Then I described it like this:

"Dreaming in violet" - Is a veeery pretty mauvish purple holographic polish with a purple micro glitter. The linear holo is stronger and therefore the micro glitter is not that visible as in "Cutie Pop". That's a shame I think, but I love it anyway and it is my fave of this nail mail. Depending on how much you want this to cover you need two-three coats for this.

Fancy Friday: Inspired by Fall

The weather here in denmark is so great right now that inspired by fall is the last thing I am XD
But it's the theme for today and I got to try to do something fall-ish.

I had no ideas other than colors I wanted to use so I decided to do a dry brush mani again as I love it so much last time. You can see the first try here.

Again I love the technique because it is so different, it can be so much and it is so easy.

Swatch: L.A. Girl "Ruby Sparkle"

Hi girls

Today I want to show a polish I have shown before, but now it gets it's own blogpost. It is L.A.Girl "Ruby Sparkle", a perfect scattered red holo. I think red is very appropriate for autumn and besides this polish does not show up as good in the dim winter light, so you need to get this for the fall and see it's beauty.

I don't want to blabber about, so I will tell you that this polish only needs two coats for perfection, is great for stamping and... the rest the pictures will tell you :)

Fancy Friday: Decorated Edges

Hi girls, we start with a little update

This was the end of the second week at my new education. it has been amazing so far, but I feel a little pressure as i don't have that much time to blog. I think some changes will happen, maybe I will blog twice a week instead of three times. Well see.

Today i don't want to list all the polishes I used, but mention the base color:
Essie "Sweet Talker" is a pretty light blue polish with a deeper blue shine to it. It needs two coats and is amazing but I think it is a little harder to find these days sadly.

The outcome for today is this:

My neighbour

Just a quick post about something lovely I experience much in the autumn.

In a tree in my garden there lives a little squirrel. He is so cute - or of cause I don't know if it's the same squirrel or a whole family I see, but they have been there since I moved here two years ago.

 

I love nature and animals so this is a ideal living situation for me (exept the room is to small and my boyfriend cant live here too - and that i miss a little kitty)

Fancy Friday: Dry Brush Nail Design

Hi girls, another friday is here and another Fancy Friday post is as well.
I have wanted to try this technique out for some time, I new it would be quite easy as I have studied the procedure before, but I chose to wait for Fancy Friday as I knew that theme would come up.
I was not disappointed. I though it was very easy, quick to do and quick to fix if you messed up a bit.
It can look very rough because of the technique - therefore I chose to work with pinks and other summery colors. I am not letting go of summer yet as August practically was autumn and the sun and hot weather has returned to little Denmark here in September. That needs to be celebrated with summery nails!
