Its not my traditional days for blogging but i had some time and wanted to show this before to many make this comparison:)
I now own three newer polishes from Essie and OPI you need for Christmas (or at lest one of them;) I am a greedy bastard) so hang on if you are considering which to get.
I am not home now so i didn't have the opportunity to make a better photo with the OPI, so I hope my solution is fine. (Essie Leading Lady is on the left and Toggle the Top on the right)
On to the polishes:
Essie - Toggle the top from this years Christmas collection
Essie - Leading Lady from last years holiday collection
OPI - Underneath the Mistletoe from this years Mariah Carey holiday collection
Here they are in same order as mentioned above. First picture with flash and second in shade by daylight.
Remember you can open the photo in another window and make it bigger:)

But remember that on swatch sticks the color is over a white base. Below I will describe the colors and effects better for each polish.
Essie "Leading Lady" and "Toggle the Top" - both needs two coats for full opacity
As Leading Lady is from last year when I wasn't blogging, I don't have a picture of a full manicure with it, but there are tons of pictures of it on the internet so I chose to have it as a accent nail together with Toggle the Top as many think they are most alike because of the glitter. As you saw in the first pictures they do look exactly the same in the bottle
Leading lady and Toggle the top has the same red glitter, so the difference in these two polishes is only the base color.
Leading lady gives the impression of being the most true red of these. Toggle the top has a dark base that in some lights look dark cold toned red, black or even purple. I think it often looks dark red, the purple color every one has captured and put on the internet I only saw once. That's a shame, but it will do and because I don't really like true red that leans warm toned I prefer Essie Toggle the top of these
This was a photo with direct sun that originally was very orange because of the time of day. I edited it only by cooling the tones until my skin color matched, I haven't done anything else with it.
Here you can see the purple in Toggle the Top, but again this was not what it looked like most of the time - not in danish weather at least;)
OPI "Underneath the Mistletoe" - this needs two-three coats for full opacity (depends on dept you want)
Something you don't see on the swatchstick is that OPI Underneath the mistletoe isn't as light as Essie Leading Lady, it is a little darker in real life and maybe even a little more brown in tone.
Another difference is the glitter. It is of cause smaller than the Essies, but as the Essies have red glitter, the OPI actually have light pink glitter, not red, but of cause the base makes the glitter red like in a jelly sandwich. It looks amazing in the bottle with the pink glitter sticking to the glass of the bottle, but sad its hard to see the pink on the nail because of the base. I will play with it next time I wear it and try to find a way to make it more obvious.
But after all I am happy for this polish no matter what. Because of the small glitter it has a complexity and dept to it that I really adore. The base color is a little tricky with my skin tone, but I am determined to make this work or love it anyway.
As with the Essies I did the same correction with the color for this picture as I took them right after each other. The sun overpowers the glitter in this picture but I hope you get the idea. The base is also captured very true here
I actually have a swatch stick with China Glaze Ruby Pumps but I forgot when I took these photos. So if any one want a comparison with that included you just need to tell me, follow me on instagram and I will have it up there sometime next week:)
I can tell you that I sold that polish because it was very true warm red with very small very red glitter, not my color. I am sure it in color will be most similar to Essie Leading lady of these, OPI is too dark and the glitter is much smaller in the china glaze as I remember it didn't stick to the bottle as bigger glitter normally do.
I hope it helped:) Have a lovely day<3
