Well, I am just crazy about the "How to train your Dragon" movies. Dreamworks make so creative works now a days and this is no exception in my opinion. Just look at this collage I made with pictures of toothless, he is adorable and I want one for my self (but that may be a bit hard....).
But I decided I wanted to do a manicure inspired by him.
(photos of Toothless has been found on google and all are snapshots from the movie itself, so the credit still goes to Dreamworks)
So this is the outcome of my experiment:
I wanted to focus on Toothless' scales as I think it's a great effect that they are much more shiny than rest of him. On the thumb I did a little more advanced nail art.
Here is a close up of the thumb. A little messy as the matte topcoat dragged the polish a little, but still pretty I think.
The sky is a rough gradient with two light colors over a blue and the rest I painted in freehand with a little nail art brush
There you can see the scales better. I did a mat topcoat over my base color and added scales with a nail art brush and a ordinary shiny black polish on top. And I had to do the accent nail with OPI "Emotions"
I actually really like this and I may try this another time with different colors
Polishes Used:
Herome "Kuala Lumpur" - as base for three fingers
OPI Matte Topcoat - over the base on four fingers
OPI "Emotions" - as accent nail on the ring finger because it is dragon scales in a bottle!
Essie "Licorice" - for the scales and the dragon on the thumb
Kiko "515" - as the dragons wings
China Glaze "Electric Beat" - as the base of the sky on the thumb
China Glaze "Sea Spray" and OPI "Alpine Snow" - as the rough gradient clouds on the thumb
I hope you like my design, I myself enjoyed making it <3
If anybody know where to get a cute dragon like toothless, I would like to hear from you ;)

I love it! Toothless is awesome, love the scales as well! Matte top coat nearly always smears nail art, so I do a coat of my normal top coat first to seal in my design and then add the matte top coat.
