On Wednesday I got the two Mariah Carey mini texture sets with the mail and because people wanted to see these I decided to show these now and not in December as I had planned. But I want this to be a quick post.
Here is the polishes on swatch sticks in order after the sets besides "Make him mine" and "Baby please come home". I switched those because I though it was important to show "Make him mine" and "Silent stars go by" side by side. In a review I read, the blogger said she did not think one needed both... well I do, and I think this picture shows why very good. If you want to see these on nails the scroll down the page. The polishes are in the order of this picture. And i apologise for all the awkward hand positions, but these bottles are to small to hold in any charming way:P
Emotions - a black jelly base that covers great enough with two coats. What makes this unique is the black glitter in it in different sizes. I personally don't like black on my nails, and I sold my Nicole by OPI "A Nise-treat" for that reason, but there is actually a slight possibility I would wear this. I thought it looked great!. I later tried to make a gradient with this on the tips, but the glitter was sticking to the thing I used to make the gradient so it wasn't really working with this effect for me. But next time my boyfriend has a concert I might put this on. I can guess he will think it looks like black dragon scales ;) He is a sweet little boy<3
I was so amazes by this polish that i think we need a closeup. I really hope OPI or someone else get the idea of doing this with other colors, especially other dark colors like green, red and purple. I want dragon scales on my nails in every color i can imagine dragons having :D
In sunlight it looks kind of wet because of the black glitter that is not matte at all, so I think this looks best in shade.
It's Frosty Outside - is a metallic silver with silver glitter. A complete dupe for that silver texture gosh have out in stores now. You don't need both, only if you want to collect every polish that have ever been made. I sold my gosh because I found out I wanted the OPI bottle instead. This had the worst opacity of all these, it took three coats and could need a forth if you don't want any light to be seen through your nails. I think that is the classic example of the fact that i often experience bad consistency in OPIs mini sets. I don't know why, but they are always a little more watery than they should be. Besides this one i was for once pleased with the mini sets so I can live with this being a little more sad. I do like it so I think I will get the full size someday.
And in the sun.
Kiss me at Midnight - is a wild blue with silver glitter, needs two coats. I wasn't sure I would like this, and I was right, I don't really do, on me it looks crazy I think, but I am happy to have it in my collection... just because:P. It is more purple than OPI Get your number from the spring Mariah Carey collection (and then it hits me that it has only been a year since that collection with the first liquid sands... crazy that i already on 54 texture polishes..:P)
And in sunlight. I don't care for it either way.
Silent Stars Go By - a light pink with a purple undertone that makes it very neutral on me, and at the same time it can be very silvery because of the silver glitter. This was two coats but if I was wearing it for a manicure and not just for swatch I would give it three coats just to be save. This is 100% similar to Barry M "Duchess" (that and all the others from that collection I will show in some weeks) and they are the same dilemma for me. I don't know if i find them pretty enough to own both (and I have a friend that is trying to steal the Barry M from me), and I don't know if I will use them enough. I have already worn the Barry M three days in London, and I thought it was very boring, but it does suit me. I think I will have to wear this one soon and decide.
I think this is best in sunlight
Make Him Mine - is not at all the same as Silent Stars Go By. It is a light bronze color with a hint of pink undertones and silver glitter. Without knowing it, I have been searching for this to long! It is amazing, and it needs to be seen in real life. I had seen many swatches but i didn't expect it to be as it is, and with "Emotions" this is the most unexpected of these polishes I like. I though it would be to orange to me, but this is neutral on me and at the same time a Christmas party.
In sunlight it looks warmer than in shade, but still not to orange toned.
Baby Please Come Home - every body talked about this because it was purple, and as a purple lover I needed to get it. Well i like it, but that is because i like purpleish grey. I find this way more grey than purple, and compared to Rimmel Space Dust in Moon Walking (also to be swatched on the blog), this is not at all purple. Only besides a true grey you can see the purple undertones and a little bit in sunlight. This is a dupe of the "purple" textured polish gosh have made (in Denmark this one should get in stores in January so buy the OPI if you cant wait). It needs two coats for full opacity.
Compared to all the other exiting texture polishes coming out right now I am not in the mood for this color right now, and compared it is kind of dull i think. Needed indeed in my collection and i may buy the full size if i get enough use out of this. Right now i just don't seen why every body is crazy about it.
Again in sunlight you can see the purple tone a little better, but still not at all purple in my mind:)
My collection got more rich and your memory got more rich with thoughts and pictures and knowledge hidden in your head until the day you own them yourself and will get your own experiences:)
Hope you like the review.
